1. General Provisions
The Editorial Board of the Ukrainian Chemistry Journal respects and protects the privacy of all individuals interacting with the journal's website and editorial system: authors, reviewers, readers, and other users. This Privacy Statement describes what data are collected, how they are used, and how they are protected.
The journal complies with the Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection" No. 2297-VI of 01.06.2010 and with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) as applicable to individuals from EU countries.
2. Personal Data Collected and Purposes of Processing
2.1. Authors
Upon registration and manuscript submission, authors provide: full name, email address, institutional affiliation, country, and ORCID. These data are used solely to manage the editorial process, communicate regarding the manuscript, and publish article metadata (author name, affiliation, country) in open access.
2.2. Reviewers
Reviewers provide their full name, email address, and affiliation. These data are used solely to organize the peer review process and are not disclosed to authors without the reviewer's explicit consent. The journal operates a double-blind peer review model.
2.3. Readers
Readers who register on the website to receive notifications of new issues provide their name and email address. These data are used solely to send relevant notifications and are not shared with third parties.
2.4. Technical Data
The journal website, operating on the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform, may automatically collect technical data including IP address, browser type, and date and time of visits. These data are used solely for website traffic statistics and security purposes.
3. Cookies
The journal website uses cookies — small text files stored in the user's browser — to maintain authorized user sessions and collect anonymous visitor statistics. Users may disable cookies in their browser settings, though this may limit certain website functionality.
4. Confidentiality in the Editorial Process
4.1. Manuscript Confidentiality
Submitted manuscripts are confidential documents. Editors do not disclose information about manuscripts — including their content, status in the review process, reviewer comments, or editorial decisions — to anyone other than the authors and reviewers. This restriction applies equally to requests to use materials in legal or other official proceedings.
4.2. Reviewer Confidentiality
The journal operates a double-blind peer review model: the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to one another during the review process. Reviewers are obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding manuscript content and must not: publicly discuss authors' work prior to publication; appropriate ideas from manuscripts for their own research; or retain copies of manuscripts after the review is complete.
A reviewer's identity may be disclosed only with their explicit written consent. Confidentiality may be breached solely in cases of established scientific misconduct or fraud, in accordance with COPE procedures.
4.3. Reviewer Comments
Reviewer comments are not published or disclosed to third parties without the consent of the reviewer, author, and editor. Comments from one reviewer may be shared with other reviewers of the same manuscript to improve the quality of the review process.
5. Disclosure to Third Parties
The journal does not sell, transfer, or disclose users' personal data to third parties, except where necessary for: DOI registration with Crossref (article metadata transmitted: author names, affiliations, title, abstract); indexing in bibliographic databases (only public metadata transmitted); compliance with Ukrainian legislation.
6. Data Storage and Security
Personal data are stored on secured servers of the OJS platform. The journal implements organizational and technical measures to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, or destruction. Author and reviewer data are retained for the duration of the journal's operation as part of the scientific archive.
7. User Rights
Every user has the right to: access their personal data held by the journal; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of their data (except data forming part of the published scientific archive); withdraw consent to receive notifications at any time.
To exercise these rights, please contact the editorial office at: ukrchemj@gmail.com
8. Amendments
The Editorial Board reserves the right to update this Privacy Statement. Users will be notified of material changes through the journal website. The date of the last update is indicated at the top of this document.
